View Important Information about Direct Access to Physical Therapy
In Virginia, patients can be seen by a physical therapist for up to 30 consecutive days without a prescription from their physician. At the end of 30 days, a prescription from a physician is required if the patient needs to continue their physical therapy treatment.
If you suspect that you have an injury that would benefit from physical therapy, our physical therapists can perform an evaluation and if appropriate, begin care immediately. If the physical therapist feels that your condition is outside of their scope of practice, they will refer you to the appropriate healthcare professional.
Not all insurance providers will pay for services without a prescription from your physician. Our administrative staff will verify with your insurance provider if your policy allows for direct access to a physical therapist. Please contact our office for additional information about Direct Access to physical therapy.
