Meet Sam Kang
Sam graduated from the University of Virginia with a B.A in Biology in 2001. He then received his Masters of Physical Therapy Degree (2003) and Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Shenandoah University (2005). Sam became the Clinic Director at the Fairfax office in March of 2013.
Prior to joining the team at Bodies in Motion, Sam worked for four years at the National Rehabilitation Hospital in Washington, D.C. where he treated many diverse conditions involving outpatient orthopedic, neurological, amputee and geriatric patient populations in a rehabilitation and aquatic setting. From this experience, he has developed a practice philosophy which emphasizes the importance of restoring proper gait mechanics, as well as incorporating the use of manual therapy techniques to ease soft tissue and joint restrictions accompanied by exercise to meet functional goals.
Sam is a strong believer in continuing education and is working towards a certification in manual therapy. Sam also enjoys working with youth outside of the medical environment and is active as a youth leader in the community. He speaks Korean, and can translate as necessary for non-English speakers.
Sam has an advanced certification in Triggerpoint Dry Needling. He has also helped develop a course for teaching experienced therapists the use of Triggerpoint Dry Needling in the treatment of TMJ. He works extensively with young athletes to get them back to their sports as quickly and safely as possible.
