Meet Michael Mastrostefano
PT OCS MTC
Michael has been practicing physical therapy since 1987, during which time he has successfully improved the functional status of people with both temporary and permanent disabilities. He has expertise in a variety of settings, including hospital-based rehabilitation, outpatient sports medicine centers, aquatic centers and home care environments.
Michael’s participation in continuing education is displayed by his professional accomplishments. He has been awarded the title of Orthopedic Certified Specialist by the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties. He is also a Certified Manual Therapist through the University of St. Augustine. With these credentials, he is exceptionally qualified to care for patients with dysfunction of the spine. Mike also has extensive experience with Triggerpoint Dry Needling, which is a technique to relieve severe muscle spasm and help restore proper function of various muscle groups. He uses a combination of tools to help get his patients back to the functional level they are seeking, including Real Time Ultrasound to help target muscles for rehabilitation and strengthening.
Michael opened Bodies In Motion Physical Therapy in 2002 with an emphasis on quality of care and rehabilitation. This includes controlling the patient caseload of staff physical therapists to a manageable level, closing the office to patient care for continuing education three times per month, and a bonus structure which uniquely rewards physical therapists for the outcome of their treatment, not the amount they bill for their care. The practice has steadily grown with clinics in Falls Church, Reston and Fairfax, and a continued determination to provide therapist delivered care at the highest level of excellence. Michael has further demonstrated his commitment to education through clinical mentoring of physical therapy students and tutoring responsibilities for various universities and his sponsorship of physical therapy courses and seminars for the Virginia Physical Therapy Association and other continuing educational programs.
