Meet Jamie Bennett
Jamie Bennett graduated from Grand Valley State University, in Michigan, with a B.S. in Biomedical Science in 2006. She then received her Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Marymount University in 2009.
Prior to joining Bodies in Motion, Jamie worked for Physiotherapy Associates in Ashburn, Virginia where she was also the continuing education coordinator for the northern Virginia region. During her time at Physiotherapy Associates, Jamie focused on orthopedic rehabilitation with an emphasis on Maitland Manual Therapy. Jamie is educated in pelvic health physical therapy, currently treating a variety of women’s health diagnoses. Jamie holds her certification in intramuscular dry needling, treating general musculoskeletal dysfunction and orthopedic conditions. She is very interested in continuing her education and expanding her tool box, with an interest in manual therapy and women’s health physical therapy. Jamie is also a member of the American Physical Therapy Association, including the women’s health and orthopedic chapters. Through her experience, she has developed a practice that emphasizes the importance of patient education and awareness of their own dysfunction allowing them to take what they learn and apply it to their everyday life. This stresses the importance of continuing with proper body mechanics and therapeutic exercise as needed once physical therapy is completed.
Jamie is originally from Western Michigan, where she and her husband met in high school. She has been in Northern Virginia for almost 11 years, and is busy raising her two small children in Fairfax. She enjoys running and spending time with her family and friends.
